Child Guidance and Discipline

Aunt Delores‘ discipline philosophy and practices place focus on a child’s behavior being desirable rather than the child being undesirable. As early childhood professionals, it is our mission to foster healthy, positive self-concepts in the minds of all our children.

We know that young children thrive in an environment that is safe, stimulating, nurturing, predictable and fun. Keeping this in mind, Aunt Delores‘ uses a variety of positive discipline techniques when a young child’s behaviors must be corrected or altered.

  • Praise
  • Reinforcement
  • Reminding
  • Redirection
  • Stating Contingencies
  • Separation from the Group
  • Parent Notification
  • Parent Conference

Potty Training Guidelines

Aunt Delores’ Child Care has succeeded for many years in potty training. We do not use “Pull-ups” at Aunt Delores‘. Our policy: When the parent is ready, they work with their child for a weekend and if you feel they are ready when they return, bring your child in “training undies” and rubber pants. In our experience over the years we have succeeded in having children fully potty trained within 2 weeks using this procedure.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to create an atmosphere of love, acceptance, creativity and learning for children from infancy to 5 years, and to provide an affordable, high quality, safe, caring, developmentally appropriate environment for the children in our care. We encourage our children to explore and discover their world daily while creating an atmosphere where the children feel like our center is their home away from home. about us »
